Rajkummar Rao whose career seems to be steadily on the rise especially this year, has another new offering this weekend with the horror comedy ‘Stree’. The film was touted to be one of its kind and the promos had also intrigued many. Now, with the film finally hitting the screens, it looks like all the positive hype has really paid off.
The film has been appreciated by the critics for its refreshing content and the audiences too can’t seem to get enough of it as the film has a strong word of mouth recommendation. As for the collections, according to a report from BoxofficeIndia.com, ‘Stree’ is off to a great start as the film has raked in Rs 6.50- Rs 6.75 crore on its very first day. The movie has now become the 12th highest opener of the year and considering that the film’s budget is under Rs 30 crores, its opening is even better than ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, which is considered this year’s sleeper hit.
‘Stree’ follows the story of three friends in the town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, where a ghost of a woman hunts and abducts men during certain days in a year. The movie also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.
