Tanushree Dutta’s allegations on Nana Patekar has started the #MeToo movement in Bollywood too which has many celebrities coming out in support of the former actress.
Today at the launch of ‘Namaste England’ new song ‘Proper Patola’, Bollywood stars Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra too opened up about the #MeToo movement. Talking about the movement Parineeti said, “Honestly, I hope that this isn’t the start of the #MeToo movement as this would mean that there would be several other incidents, therefore, I really hope that this is the first and last one if its true. If there are any other women in the Industry who have gone through the same then they should come out and speak as if they don’t speak now then they’ll forever be suppressed.”
She further added, “Personally, I have never been through such an experience but God forbid if any such incident would have happened with me then I would have never kept quiet so which is why keeping quite is never the solution. I am not taking any sides as I wasn’t there but if it has happened then its the worst thing that can happen to a woman. If we can’t feel protected in our Industry and our country how could I live or do anything? I hope this is all untrue but in case this has happened then we would all support her.”
Her co-star Arjun too opened up about the controversial topic saying, “It’s not only in this Industry but such incidents can happen anywhere. If anyone has come out in the open we just start making talking about it instead of listening to the person. If a girl has come out and spoken about it then she deserves to be heard before being judgemental and making it a debate and starting a movement. We need to understand that it’s not just the film Industry but the finger has been raised in all the professions. As men, we have to give equality to women, we need to create a safe environment for all. If there are more such incident in our Industry then we should make sure that they feel safe to come out and speak about it.”
Meanwhile, Tanushree has taken a break from all the media glare due to health reasons but in her latest statement, she has said that she would be back soon.
