It’s for the second time in a matter of a few months that Esha Gupta has faced some infiltration into her social media accounts. In April this year, one of her friends had messaged her to say that she had received a message from Esha’s handle on her social media account asking for her phone number. It alarmed the actress and when she looked into the matter, she discovered that her account on a photo-sharing website had been hacked into and was used to send out messages to her actor and filmmaker friends, asking for their contact details.
Last afternoon, Esha’s account on a microblogging website was hacked into and messages were sent out to her contacts with links that most of them couldn’t open. Her fraternity contacts, including singer Mika Singh, reached out to her only to find out that she wasn’t the one sending out these messages.
“I started getting messages from a few actors yesterday saying, ‘We can’t open the link you’ve sent us. That’s when my digital team and I realised that someone had sent a lot of people some link which was a spam. So, we immediately put out a note on the micro-blogging site that no one should open that link so that other people’s accounts don’t get hacked into. My team was in touch with the officials at social media company because despite several efforts to change the password, just about anyone could login and we couldn’t do anything with the account. The team was very helpful and they eventually took control over my account, and helped us change the password and recover the account and lock it with a proper password. I finally started using it again late last night,” says Esha.
